Located six miles west of Westport, Croagh Patrick is one of Mayo’s most famous landmarks. The mountain overlooks Clew Bay and the entire Western coastline. In 441AD, Saint Patrick is said to have spent 40 days and nights praying and fasting on its slopes. Over 60,000 people make the ascent on this day, starting at Murrisk Abbey.

Féile Bia na Mara – Achill Seafood Festival is a weekend of fun and feasting to celebrate Achill’s rich maritime heritage and seafood culture.
8th – 12th July
Ballina Salmon Festival is Ireland’s premier family-orientated Festival giving thousands of people, eight days of fun-filled artistic and cultural events catering for all age groups. The Lady of the Moy competition and the street festival are among the many highlights.
2nd – 5th July
The 4 Day Walks Festival involves four days of walking, talking, rambling, music, song and dance. There are 10km, 20km, 30km and 40km walks as well as a 6 hour ramble. The Festival has been running for over 40 years.
Achill Island is hosting its sixth half marathon and up to 2000 participants are expected. The race starts at 11am and the route is challenging but the scenery is worth the challenge. There will be activities & entertainment available on the day. It is in aid of Our Ladys Children’s Hospital in Crumlin.
